From here in the garden of Hotel Surya I feel a long long way from the hustle and bustle of Kolkata. I spent all morning asleep in a quiet room for the first time in a week. Personally I'm quite glad to be out of Kolkata. I've been very much looking forward to Varanasi, so I'm glad to be here.
I was beginning to feel like Kolkata was stagnating a bit for me and I hate having a sense of repetition; if I'm not keeping busy I start to get homesick, so I enjoyed jumping on the train yesterday and starting the next phase of this journey.
It's going to take some time to fully understand what Kolkata means to me but what I can definitely say is that the things I've seen and done in Kolkata will change me forever. It also feels good though to close that chapter of the story and start a new one. I'm off for another nap!
