Incredible though it might be from Hugo’s perspective his mum (Fiona2 – not the eloquent Fiona of previous posts) has devoured all your extraordinary blogged experiences and has really appreciated your honesty…but until now has been silent. Sorry Hugo but that now ends! I will ask for no details about the MVP – it sounds like it should remain ‘in house - but the Irene? Your immersion in Kolkata is so different to how we cheaply travelled through India in the 80s – very much ‘fascinated outsiders’ looking in – so hearing your thoughts and questions is really amazing. I’m not sure if there is any reason for how the cards are dealt but the different groups you’re visiting seem to be making a huge difference to a few lives and many of the people touched in this way will go on to make a difference to others’ lives. I hope by now the train did arrive (previous groups discovered that even this is a rather random event in India) and that in Varanasi you can all enjoy the ‘tranquillity’ of your upmarket abode as you venture onto the Ganges. Back here the main news (oh so trivial) Hugo is that in desperation to cope with your absence Ruby (springer spaniel) has become obsessed with your new Blues Clues Blue Dog toy (yes Hugo still likes toys) – it must have ‘Hugo smells’ – and it no longer looks like Blue Dog. Christmas is in the air here (extended family gatherings etc) but for Ralph and I the first thing we do is read your fantastic blog – thank you all – thinking of you heaps – and HAPPY BIRTHDAY Chris!
