I can safely say that Jaipur - as we prepare to leave - has been my favorite city so far (Kolkata coming in at a close second). While I'm sure that many of the other boys are dedicating there blogs to the subject of rickshaws I shall drop in a quick homage to Shakir - a man who calls his old rickshaw "Air Force 1", who would drop words of wisdom such as "love is sweet poison my friend", and openly discusses his different opinions on different races of girls at the party....with Mr Jordan. Shakir, if you are reading this, that totally wasn't awkward. Oh and my ears are still ringing - Nice speakers pumping the classic "gun" song (inside joke, sorry guys). But above and beyond the rickshaws the city itself has a very different vibe to the other towns we have been to. For example the new Indian marketing ploy is to open with "Just come look at my emporium but I really don't want you to feel pressure to buy." and end with chanting your name till you get another silk shirt. And from the number of purchases made this new tact really worked on us - 15 days in and still as gullible as ever. Just thought I'd pick on the those two things to show the vibrancy of this town before we leave but this blog could go on for pages.
