Last Christmas I received the novel Shantaram as a gift. Those that know the book will understand when I say I'm still reading it now (I'm about three quarters through). It's easily the greatest and most powerful book I've ever read, and it's pretty special to be reading it whilst travelling in India, especially when he describes the constant tooting of the drivers and other things which we've now been able to witness first hand. The main setting of the novel is a bar/ restaurant called Leopold's, which we're having lunch at on Christmas Day. I don't think I've been this excited in a long time; I'm more excited to visit this little eatery than I was going to the Taj even, it's like I'm six years old again and Leopold's is a new set of Lego.
