The train ride from Kolkata to Varanasi was definitely an experience including a smelly Indian sticking his wrinkly foot in Fletcher's mouth.
Once we arrived we were transported by rickshaws to Hotel Surya which is a complete luxury compared to Hotel Emirates where we would be staying for 2 nights. Not being able to see 5 metres in ahead of you on the road and trying to overtake the car in front while a dozen trucks were heading towards you with there lights off was a really safe ride...
My first thoughts of Varanasi while we drove through was an abandoned run-down city with no one on the streets.

The hotel is the complete opposite though and I am off for a massage along with Mr Tripathi in 30 mins.
